For an edition of Etablissement d’En Face’s Black Friday series of brief interventions during ongoing exhibitions; I showed 6 ceramic ashtrays, on a table in the back bottom room of the establishment. For each ashtray there was a user. The six smokers worked in shifts so that on those Monday and Tuesday afternoons there would be a group of three persons at a time meeting and demonstrating the ashtrays, and appropriating the room.

The smokers were hired through Brussels’ public employment service.
